Hi Ian - I would expect that *some*, but not *all*, concepts in a BE application (eg for CEP) would be managed as master data (ie under CIM). As of BE3 this would indeed be a manual synchronisation of the 2 models... originally mentioned here...
Cheers

Having the CIM act as a concept model is what I was getting at. It's not a huge burden to keep 2 separate models in sync, it just would have been nice to have some tool support (and to be clear here I mean at design time, I wouldn't expect BE to query an CIM/MDM store at runtime).

Cheers,
Ian.

Hi Ian -

It's a CIM (and BE) customisation at present - eg in AFF. Clearly representing BE ontology components in CIM is more involved than just rule or query parameters (that can be updated via a simple EMS message).

But there is no reason a CIM data source for example could not be a type of BE concept model, like DBConcepts. Although the idea above is more about using CIM as a rule/query/EPL etc repository...

Cheers

“And, er, CEP.”

So, getting into the nitty gritty… does CIM have a way to expose it’s model as ontology in BE or would I have to manually create concepts to match the MDM?
